IT'S ALIVE!

I couldn't help share what happened today - we were able to get characters into our scene! Holo Moon, the incredible character artist on our team, was able to sketch in the characters that she's created inside the kitchen. For the first time since the start of the project, we were able to merge our disciplines and it was honestly one of the most satisfying feelings yet.


We were finally able to see the scale and how a character might interact with the surroundings. I couldn't help but shout about how pleased we all are with the current direction. There is always that small worry at the beginning that the characters and environment won't merge well so this was the test we've all been working towards.


Holo has created base meshes using Unreal Engines new Metahumans. These do have their limitations currently as it's just a demo but have worked well as a base for character design. I was able to take the model and as they come fully rigged, and used a combination of Maximo and hand tweaking to achieve a natural positioning for their personality type.
